Our society’s views on motherhood are tangled up with the views on womanhood and the ideals of women to be small, quiet, weak, and selfless. Think about the disrespect these messages pay to our strongest and most valuable members—mothers, those who are charged with the continuation and care of the future of humanity! Why on earth should we be expected to be small and quiet? Why should we be meek and selfless? Let’s instead claim our strength, our power, our SELVES! Let’s take pride in who we are instead of trying to fit ourselves into old standards that are stale, judgmental, and designed to make us feel bad about ourselves.
